I studied art to 'A' level at school & went on to do a City & Guilds in Signwork at Trowbridge Technical College. I still do the odd sign, but my favourite medium has to be the glass, all my paints have a thick skin on them these days.
How I started making jewellery & beads
One day I was browsing ebay looking for some jewellery to buy, when I discovered how easy it was to buy all the bits & bobs to make my own, so I spent a few quid on some cheap silver plated findings...it was like an instant addiction! I always wanted to make my own beads, even at the early stages as I felt it wasn't all my own work. I didn't have a clue how somebody would go about making beads, I didn't even know what it was called! Anyway, one day I got an invite to an ebay forum...Yay, somewhere full of other nutcases just like me (sorry guys, but you know its true
)...I would recommend joining a forum, sharing & joining in, you all spur each other on & feed off each other. Anyway a small group of us went to spend the day with another lampworker, we all watched as these amazing little beadies were made & I made my 1st 3 beads...I knew before then that I wanted to do it, but I needed to do it now!
Enter my husband...he took a week off in January 2007 to build me my bead shed...It was the wettest blowiest week ever, & we had lots of comedy moments whilst erecting it (niether of us had ever built a shed from scratch...don't go round it with a spirit level, thats all I can say), but he did a fantastic job...Thank you Andy xx.
Which brings me to the present day, I aim to improve abit everyday & to try and make beautiful & original beads for many years to come.
Thank you
